It's disturbing to know that many political parties want to defend the actions of people like Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, a person accused by the police of planting bombs that killed innocent Indians. These political parties are even talking about giving her an election ticket!
We should be well aware - bombers of any religion are not protecting anyone or benefiting anyone. They are just killing innocent Indians - remember that someone's mother, or son, or wife has died in any bomb blast.
Let us shun any parties that support terrorists of any type.
Let us build a united and prosperous country.

Mashaal India is a group of Indian citizens who truly love this country and want to see progress here, and are not ready to see this beautiful country degenerate into violence.

In fact, the recent statements by Yogi Adityanath of the Gorakhnath temple of Gorakhpur about giving a 'fitting welcome' to the members of the ATS team that were to arrive for investigations in Gorakhpur town, and the press conference by Rajnath Singh, expressing outrage that any member of the Hindu community can be questioned in connection with the bomb blasts are real eye openers for a lot of us. Why should any citizen of this country, regardless of his or her faith, be above the law?
ReplyDeleteCan we allow our nation to be ruled by politicians who delight in playing the Hindu card, the Muslim card or any regional identity card for their narrow electoral gains? In fact, can we as voters even vote on these lines and still claim to be good citizens of India?
And further, speaking as a Hindu, shouldn't we be reclaiming our faith from this plethora of saffron cloaked sants whose main occupation seems to be nursing grievances and inciting their followers to take revenge for real and imagined wrongs? The Hindu majority has to find a voice that says: "My Ram/Hanuman/Krishna/Devi/Shiva never taught me that an eye for an eye was the best way to live!"
Lets invite more of our kind to join the Mashaal fold. That could be a start.
I fully agree. Political leadership of today is totally bereft of any moral standing. How can any party espouse use of violence as a means to its end and still be called constitutional? All such groups and individuals must be socially boycotted as well brought to trail for sedition.
ReplyDeleteThose who kill the innocent are killers, no matter the religion.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is time for Hindus to look inwards at heir faith and practice before jumping up to pin the blame elsewhere.
Moral fibre is to a great extent determined by faith and religion. Politicians who pay lip service to their religious identity and use it to further their personal agenda lack credibility in any sphere.
It is up to all thinking Indians to stem the rot.
First of all the fact is investigation says the cycle/bike used by the chap who planted the bomb belonged to Pragya.
ReplyDeleteAm amazed you talk of India and have easily got sucked by the news buzz orchestrated by the same politicians you talk about.
Do you know there are countries that have banned any negative news on the cover pages.. how about working towards this kind of agenda.
How about ensuring media does not hype it and blow it beyond proportion. There are so many people getting tickets for elections and they are probably worse than Pragya. Can we have a list of such people with their achievements. published.
Dear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all if you have lost track of the investigations, there is enough evidence to link the accused Pragya Thakur to the blasts through her phone conversations and her narco-analysis test. Although these may not be admissable in a court of law, it is the same class of evidence that is used to nail and try other acts of terror, SIMI and others. Pragya's narco- analysis has further provided information of a "nation-wide terror school for the wanna-be hardliner" and we have everyone from an army officer to a self-styled dharmaguru.
So please do not at your own convenience discount the seriousness and gravity of the situation.
Terror is Terror, whether Islamist or Hinduist ( different from Hindu Terror. All hindus are not advocates of terror and so there can never be a Hindu Terror just like there can never be an Islamic terror)
This blog isn't about a Pragya Thakur or a Mohammad Afzal and do not reduce it to that. It is not about assigning blame, because we all are to blame.
You know Mr. Anonymous you make a valid point about the media and the politicians that "orchestrate" the news in your opinion... But remember the media and politics are nothing but a reflection of the society we live in.. So changing the media is like dealing with a symptom. But the malaise is "us". (that is if we still consider all of us to be "us". Now-a-days its more like you and me and I. We have forgetton about the "us")
And I agree that we have worse people than Pragya getting tickets. Does that justify Pragya being offered a ticket? Since when did 2 wrongs make a right? But as far as your further request is concerned about publishing a list of all the crooked people in our Legislatures with their achievements. We should do that. May be you can take a lead in this? What say?
And please do let me know which countries are you referring to when you say "Do you know there are countries that have banned any negative news on the cover pages.. how about working towards this kind of agenda."
Are you talking about China? No democratic country would allow this for sure! I am sorry all Indians including me believe in voicing our opinions not "banning" them. Every issue must get the hype it deserves and it is a collective consciousness of a nation that decides the proportion and extent of this "hype". Its not you and its not me who decide. We just blog. So keep blogging.
Democratically yours,
Anonymous

ReplyDelete"Let us shun any parties that support terrorists of any type.

In addition, as citizens of India, let us help isolate the terrorists and those who support them, irrespective of their religion, beliefs, etc. Terror groups can last only if there is a modicum of grass roots support.

The use of bombs and violence to settle scores is a sign of the degeneration of the Law. If the Legal process is stronger, swifter and more credible, then people will use the courts to file their grievances instead if physical attacks. Lets work on strengthening the judicial system
ReplyDeleteStrenghtening the Judicial System is surely one of the ways. I agree. But this may not necessarily translate into having more stringent laws. I think that the current laws have as much as we need to tackle terror/law and order disturbances in terms of their provisions for pre emptive arrests of suspects and keeping a tab on them. What I think we need is an efficient "national mechanism" to implement these laws. If terror is a national problem, why is law and order a state subject? Especially when states do miserably in handling law and order and sharing information. We need a "Central Terror Fighting" agency, empowered by the existing laws, answerable only to Parliament and not the state governments ( the embodiment of corruption in India). We must give this organization an autonomous structure and a nationalistic secular mandate, the performance of which should be overseen by a "jury" comprising members of civil society, Parliament, judiciary and the security set-up.
ReplyDeleteState police unfortunately, unless political bosses do not permit them, have no stomach for investigating the terror incidents/ law and order disturbances seriously.
And we must surely shun any parties that support terror. It is reprehenisble that one should offer tickets to terror suspects. Our politics cannot reach a lower point.
I say... lets strap all of them with 1 dynamite stick each and stand them in a group at a secluded area... let's see how much they enjoy or think its "worth the cause" then...
ReplyDeleteSet an example, make it big and let it be a lesson for anyone who dares live in this country but fight against their own countrymen... No matter what the religion!!
Everyone in this country and the world needs to understand one thing - No religion, faith or belief is bigger than a life itself.
Think about it... One's soul may have several lives and along with that, several religions, faiths and beliefs too... so how can a single person lay a claim as to which religion is the best and the truest... No one can... The only religion that is worth following and living for, is HUMANITY!!
All for one and one for All.
Partha Iyengar
ReplyDeleteCan we also put the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia and Amar Singh also in the same list as people trying to defend Sadhvi Pragya? They are actually defending people who killed a much awarded police officer.
ReplyDeleteCongress created Bhindarwale and LTTE. Ban Congress.
ReplyDeleteI agree what you said. I support your views.
ReplyDeleteWe should have a law in our country that any person , party , group should not divide or try to divide our countrymen in the name of region or religion or status .
ReplyDeleteif anyone found doing so or supporting a criminal or a person undergoing trail would also be punished under the same law regardless of his present position.
We all know the reason behind the need to have such a law in force immediately or we may not need ISI or CIA ,etc to destroy or country.
Well it depends on which side of the political debate you are when you say "Congress created Bhindarwale and LTTE"
ReplyDeleteDoes one not remember that the only Prime Ministers who lost their lives to terrorists were Indira Gandhi ( to pro Khalistani terrorists) and Rajiv Gandhi (to pro LTTE terrorists). I think that it is incorrect to say that the Congress created these. In fact they paid with their lives to curb these.
Do you not remember that it was JAswant Singh who literally took the terrorists hand in hand and dropped them off at Kandahar?
Have you forgotten that the first terror act in India was committed by Nathuram Godse who killed the "father of the nation" Mahatma Gandhi?
Was Nathuram Godse a Congressman? OR did he belong to the Sangh Parivar?
For too long we have tolerated misrepresentation of the majority by these fanatics. The Hindu majority are a tolerant secular bunch. We want peace, prosperity and development. We have no time or energy or willingness to divide this country into religious lines for political gains.
Today when Christians are slaughtered in Orissa and Karnataka, the world believes indus are fanatical? Are they? Well I am not so how dare they call me a fanatic? Just because the saffron brigade does a wrong thing I have to feel ashamed of my religion? I will not feel ashamed. I am a right minded Hindu and I reject the politics of the Right wing fundamentalists.
In the same breath I warn terrorists of any other religion, be it Islam , Christianity or Atheist, that all Indians will reject this non sense.
Let religion stay inside one's house , one's temple/ mosque/ church/ gurudwara and one's heart. Do not make it a mainstream political issue.
Let us find a resolution for other pressing problems like poverty and hunger.
I agree what you said. I support your views.
ReplyDeleteTerrorists have got no religion... and the State should be in charge...
ReplyDeleteMakes sense...Agree with the view....Is there a campaign to shun the MNS hypocrites????
ReplyDeleteMy thinking on this issue goes beyond terrorism. Why talk of unified India, when people from other states are considered foreigners/outsiders by some so called progressive states.
ReplyDeleteThe day may not be far off when citizens of India will need visas to enter other states in India. Politicians accross partyline are spearheading this. Forget unified India, we are going back in history to divided princely states. I am not for terrorism, but at least it makes all Indians think of each other as Indians and not maharastrians or punjabis or assamese.
Think about it...

Nothing can justify the Sadhvi's actions. Being a true saint is to have the tolerance, patience and compassion to forgive your detractors. In time they will grow to understand you. The Sadhvi is an embarrassment for Hindus around the world , who pride their culture for its tolerance and magnanimity. Besides whom did she kill? Rickshaw pullers? Power loom operators? Children? Another community's religion is not some vague demon that has to be destroyed. It's made up of people who feel, love and think just like us. Besides you cannot exterminate a community. You just cannot. If you start the process they are just going to get stronger. You have to try to become strong together. That’s the ONLY solution. Look at the Jews. Hitler tried to exterminate them. They now rule the world.
ReplyDeleteA concerned citizen
Any terror action is to be condenmed. Stop writing such blogs, start loving people arround you. Simply stop using bad words for those who come across your vheical, start smiling !!
ReplyDeleteThis is all politics, the utmost dirty game on earth, without knowing any end of it (and dont try to go in details of it) please do not start any campaign, it will give rise to "hate spirit" amongst us. Let the conclusion take place. Lets pray that "wednesday" movies to become reality....
In response to ARK - please see the importance of writing such blogs. We want to express our love for India, her people, her unity, our belief in peace and secularism.
ReplyDeleteWhen all the factions are shouting from the rooftops, then those of us who believe in something different cannot keep quiet.
We need to say something and do something now. We need to take affirmative action for solidarity in our country.
Dinesh Babu
ReplyDeleteTerrorists have no religion and we should not support any party who defend people who bomb and kill innocent human beings.
Suuport Mashal Indias views
ReplyDeletewe should further this campaign. For too long the voice of a moderate and secular india has been suppressed. Now secular India will defeat the forces of communalism and regionalism. Blogging is a democratic expression. Let's continue this & support broad minded politics of inclusion & growth
ReplyDelete"Friend, do not concern yourself with who I am; you will never know.
ReplyDeleteI do not want you to accept anything I say. I do not want anything from any of you; I do not desire popularity; I do not want your flattery, your following. Because I am in love with life, I do not want anything.
These questions are not of very great importance; what is of importance is the fact that you obey and allow your judgement to be perverted by authority.
Your judgement, your mind, your affection, your life are being perverted by things which have no value, and herein lies sorrow." ..... Krishnamurti
I've seen an article by Vir Sanghvi this Saturday that expresses views very similar to yours. I'm glad there are people around who think in this manner--that terror, no matter in whose hands, is a crime against the innocent.
